* Important information regarding Mela 2024 *

In view of the recent public order incidents throughout the UK, the Newcastle Mela team have consulted with the police and other authorities to reassure those attending the events later this month.
A spokesperson for Newcastle Mela and Mela in the City said, “The events will go ahead as planned on 24th at Grey’s Monument and 25th and 26th August in Exhibition Park. The safety of everyone attending is our top priority and we have been reassured by Northumbria Police that they will have an enhanced policing operation in place to reassure the community and people attending the events. Newcastle Mela is a family-friendly festival that brings together all communities, and everyone is welcome to attend. It’s our 30th anniversary and together we can make it the safest and best ever".
